Goodwood has played host to the Festival of Speed since 1993, and each time it's revealed a theme beforehand. This theme foreshadows some of the cars that will attend, and applies to the whole event as well as the Goodwood Revival and this year the organisers have chosen: Full Throttle - The Endless Pursuit of Power.
The event will celebrate the most powerful cars and motorcycles from the history of motorsport, and the drivers and riders who conquered them.
It falls on several anniversaries, which will all be marked at the festival. The 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, the 50th anniversary of the Can-Am Series, the 40th anniversary of James Hunt's F1 World Championship, and the 50th anniversary of Sir Jack Brabham winning an F1 World Championship in a car bearing his own name.
It's Brabham who will be honoured at the annual Revival Tribute dinner, as the driver raced and tested frequently at Goodwood throughout his career. Several championship-winning cars were honed at the Goodwood Motor Circuit, and we'd expect to see some at the Festival too.
As always, Auto Express will be bringing you updated news and coverage of the Festival of Speed as it happens. Keep an eye out as we get closer to the event, which is scheduled to take place June 23rd-26th.
