Mazda has announced it will be drawing in the crowds at the 2015 LA Motor Show with a concept for the next-generation Mazda CX-9 SUV. The seven-seat Hyundai Santa Fe rival has been teased in this official design sketch before its world premiere.
The current CX-9 is on sale in the US, but never made it to the UK as it wasn't deemed an unnecessary addition to the range. The new car isn't likely to be destined for our shores just yet, but if it did it come here it could make a credible rival to cars like the Kia Sorento and forthcoming Skoda seven-seat SUV.
The design sketch shows a front-end similar in style to the CX-3 and a long, tall bonnet. A broad shoulderline and butch wheelarches give it the necessary SUV stance, and we can expect a rear-end inspired by that found on the Koeru concept at Geneva.
Few details are given about the seven-seater, but Mazda says the concept "moves toward a more premium design execution that befits a three-row midsize crossover SUV". A SKYACTIV engine range will also debut in the production CX-9.
