Audi's all-new A4 has only just hit the road, but already we've spied its sportier, sleeker cousin out testing in disguise. The A5 Sportback is set to go on sale in mid-2016, with less weight and more efficient engines.
Although these spies of a camouflaged black prototype don't give a lot away, we can see that the A5 gets a similar exterior design to the current car, but a more aggressive front end with a protruding nose and large air intake is visible.
Side on, it's still swoopy and coupe-like but the rear haunches are more pronounced with a broader shoulder-line. The rear bootlid appears more upright than before, with what could even be hints of the Jaguar XE's stylish design. Also spotted are quad tailpipes - indicating that this could be the 349bhp S5 variant.
Although we haven't seen inside yet, it's likely the A5 will also share the same dashboard architecture as the A4 but with a lower driving position. Expect a two-door coupe to launch alongside this, too, with both models sharing powertrains with the A4.
