These spy shots show the latest Mercedes E-Class Coupe, which is currently undergoing on-road testing. The car will be based on the all-new Mercedes E-Class - which is set for a release in 2016. The car will compete with the likes of the BMW 6-Series when it's finally launched.
The spy shots show a very heavily disguised car and Mercedes has grafted on a bulky boot to hide the rear end. The production car is likely to be a lot smoother and curvier, following the same route as the S-Class and C-Class Coupe. Down the sides, the rear windows are camouflaged but we'd expect the car to go without B-pillars, making for a sleeker profile than the saloon.
The new E-Class Coupe will ride on the same platform as the saloon, unlike the previous model that used an older platform than its booted sibling. The rear-wheel-drive architecture will allow for more interior room and a larger boot.
We'd expect the same engine line-up as the saloon, meaning four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines and the potential for bonkers AMG-tuned versions in future. The eco-side won't be forgotten though and it's likely we'll see hybrid options make their way onto the market.

Inside, the E-Class Coupe will use the same interior as the saloon - albeit with a lower roofline and smaller rear seats, as well as a three-door layout. That means it will be absolutely packed with technology. The saloon uses two 12.3in displays dominating the dash in place of regular dials, and touch-sensitive pads on the steering wheel to control proceedings. There's even a wireless charging pad in the centre console for a smartphone.
The Mercedes E-Class Coupe probably won't be launched anytime before 2017, and we'll bring you more details as we get them.
