Ahead of next week’s 2016 Detroit Motor Show, Kia has revealed a side-profile teaser image of a new large SUV concept. A decision on US production for the car will be made soon, but there's no news on whether or not it will come to European markets.
The teaser shot, first revealed at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show, shows a muscular new design different from the more rounded Kia Sorento. The tall shoulderline and pronounced wheelarches combine with chrome detailing showing premium aspirations, while the bluff front end takes cues from the Volvo XC90.

Interestingly, the concept features suicide doors, following on from the Korean firm’s GT four-door coupe concept from 2011. No interior design has been seen yet, and its not known if the SUV will receive seven seats. Kia states the concept will showcase “an abundance of advanced technology”, which will include “state-of-the-art health-and-wellness” tech.
Other than the Sorento, the last big Kia SUV sold in the States was the Mohave. It’s rumoured that this concept previews a direct replacement for that model, but this has not been confirmed. We’ll have more details when our reporters head to the Detroit show next week.
