Jaguar announces plans to sell nine 'continuation' examples of classic Jaguar XKSS sports car in 2017

Jaguar's F-Type SVR might be hogging the headlines, but the British firm is set to build a sports car with a difference in 2017: Nine examples of the classic Jaguar XKSS will be built 60 years after original production ended.

The XKSS was, in effect, a roadgoing version of the famous Le Mans-winning D-Type racing car. Jaguar originally planned to build 25 examples to be sold on to the public, but a fire at the Brown's Lane factory in Coventry destroyed the final nine cars.

Now, the carmaker's heritage division, Jaguar Classic, has announced plans to build nine 'continuation' examples to complete the original production run. Deliveries will start in 2017, and each car will be hand-built to the original specifications in Warwick.

Of course, all of this comes at a cost. Jaguar claims the price of one of the nine will be "in excess of £1 million", but you can be guaranteed one of the most exclusive cars on the road.
