Aston Martin and Dutch boat builder Quintessence Yachts are presenting the ‘worldwide preview’ of their new AM37 powerboat during Milan Design Week.
With up to 1,040bhp on offer from a pair of 520bhp petrol V8s, the new 37ft long vessel will offer speeds of up to 52 knots, which should do justice to its Aston-inspired looks. If the power of the AM37 S is a little too extreme, customers will also be offered a standard AM37 with a pair of 370bhp diesels, which are good for 44 knots.
According to Quintessence, the AM37 S “represents the ultimate sports driving experience on the water to enjoy in every occasion, from a runabout to a superior commuter.”
While computer-generated images of the AM37 have been around since the collaboration was announced in 2015, the event in Milan this week will offer potential customers their first chance to appreciate the finer points of its design. The boat is not expected to be seen on the water until later this year.
The exotic composite and carbon-fibre powerboat’s styling was led by the design team at Aston Martin under chief creative officer Marek Reichman. “The most important attribute for Aston Martin is the language of design and we have transferred this language into AM37. The new powerboat represents the ideal combination of luxurious and technical materials, generating a powerful yet understated finished product,” he says.

And while the AM37 may be the first boat to carry the Aston Martin name and famous winged logo, the UK firm has made no engineering or powertrain input to the project. So sadly you won’t find a pair of marinised Aston engines under the rear deck, but Mercury units instead.
However, Aston Martin’s design team will help buyers with the fit-out and trim of their boats if required, under the existing Q scheme that allows owners to specify bespoke finishes to the company’s cars.
