2016 Fiat Fiorino van gets a facelift and Euro 6 engines ~ station of gear

A sleeker nose job, new infotainment options and more efficient engines are the Fiat Fiorino's highlights

The Fiat Fiorino van has been given a mild facelift, and a new engine line-up meeting Euro 6 emissions legislation.

The exterior changes are limited but obvious, with a swoopier bumper treatment that’s sleeker than the outgoing model with its boxy and inelegant nose. The headlamps are carried over, but there is less cladding on the side of the latest Fiorino and there are new wheel trims and alloy wheel designs too. The new look has been designed to help the Fiorino fit in with the rest of the Fiat Professional (commercial vehicle) range.

The changes under the bonnet are much more significant, as Fiat is bringing the Fiorino into line with tighter Euro 6 emissions regulations. There are two 1.3-litre MultiJet II turbodiesel choices offering 79bhp and 94bhp, as well as a normally-aspirated 1.4-litre petrol. You’ll also be able to get an EcoJet efficiency package with start & stop, smart alternator and variable displacement oil pump – good for 74.3mpg and 100g/km of CO2 when paired with Fiat’s Comfort-Matic robotised manual gearbox.

The safety systems are carried over from the old model, so you get ABS, ESC, hill-holder and parking sensors, but there’s no sign yet of automatic emergency braking.

The Fiorino has had a makeover inside too, with a restyled dash with better storage, a multifunction steering wheel and new instrument graphics. The highlight of the cabin though, is an optional five-inch colour touchscreen available for the first time along with Bluetooth, sat-nav and DAB radio.

Fiat says orders open on the new van in mid-April, when prices and specs will be confirmed.
