Land Rover Series 1 Reborn - front

Land Rover to sell 25 factory-restored examples of original Series I at German classic car show Techno-Classica 2016

Land Rover is capitalising on the end of Defender production by going back to the 1948 roots of its iconic off-roader. 25 examples of the original Land Rover Series 1 have been hand restored at the factory and will be sold to the public at the Techno-Classica car show in Germany.

The 'Reborn' initiative has been devised by Land Rover Classic - a team of experts who maintain and restore some of the finest examples of the brand's icon. 25 original Series 1's have been hand picked by the team and will undergo complete restoration before going on sale.

Customers can select their preferred original car and follow the restoration from start to finish at the Classi workshop in Solihull. Each is said to be "perfectly restored" to the original 1948 factory spec using authentic parts. Five period colour finishes are available.

There's no word on how much the lucky 25 buyers will be paying for their 'new' Series 1. Given how non-factory restored examples can fetch around £30k, we'd expect these unique off-roaders to be significantly more.
