A pressure washer is one of the biggest investments some of us will make for our car cleaning regime, so it pays to get the most out of it by using the correct shampoo. A good one will loosen dirt, enabling more of it to be blasted away, and leaving just a thin layer to be removed with a mitt. Not only is this easy on the arms, it also means there is less chance of grit being dragged across the paintwork.

In our quest for the best cleaner, we sprayed our eight shampoos on marked-off sections, leaving them however long the instructions required, before rinsing from the same distance and for the same time. The final factor we considered was the price and value for money.
