The SEAT Leon ST Cupra has become the fastest estate car to lap the Nurburgring in Germany. Completing the 12.9-mile track in 7 minutes and 58.1 seconds also makes the estate quicker around the Green Hell than the smaller and lighter three-door hatch version.
Despite both models sharing the same 276bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, and the estate being around 45kg heavier, the ST shaved 0.4 seconds off the time of the hatchback.
Racing driver and SEAT brand ambassador, Jordi Gene, was behind the wheel for the record setting lap. The St Cupra was also fitted with SEAT's optional Sub8 Performance Pack costing £2,025, which adds beefier brakes and larger 19-inch alloy wheels. Semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres for an additional £460 were also fitted.
SEAT will also showcase a new 'Black' Performance pack on the ST Cupra at this year's Worthersee enthusiast show in Austria. Finished in Dynamic grey, it features 19-inch gloss alloy wheels and body coloured side skirts.
