Hyundai announces prices for all-new Tucson SUV, on sale in September 2015, with range rising up to £32,345

Hyundai is hoping to worry the Mazda CX-5 and the rest of the top Compact SUV contenders with its all-new Tucson. The car goes on sale in September with deliveries expected at the end of 2015. The Hyundai Tucson range begins at £18,695, with five trim levels and four engines in various power outputs available, with the flagship topping out at £32,345.

That starting price puts you in a 130bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine in 'S' spec, which produces 147g/km of CO2 and gets stop/start, a DAB radio, Bluetooth, aircon, auto headlights and 16-inch alloy wheels. £1,500 extra gets you the 114bhp 1.7-litre CRDI diesel, with emissions of 119g/km.

Step up to SE trim, from £20,495, and you get 17-inch alloys, rear parking sensors, cruise control heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, Lane Keep Assist and projector headlamps that swivel around corners. SE Nav starts from £21,295 and brings along an eight-inch touchscreen sat-nav with TomTom's live information services, a reversing camera and a speed limit sign recognition feature.

SE Nav can also be had with the 2.0-litre CRDI diesel engine in either 134 or 183bhp power outputs. The lowest powered two-wheel drive variant kicks off at £24,195, with four-wheel drive adding £1,630 and and the automatic gearbox another £1,250. The higher-powered unit is only available with four-wheel drive and starts at £26,695.

Premium spec starts at £25,045 and brings along 19-inch alloys, leather upholstery, front parking sensors, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection and heated rear seats. It also gets a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 175bhp that's only available with four-wheel drive. Buyers also get the option of a dual-clutch auto.

Topping the range is Premium SE at £28,345, only available with the 2.0-litre diesel and 1.6-litre turbo petrol, which gets a heated steering wheel, keyless go, a self-parking system (auto-only), electric tailgate, LED headlamps, a panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats.
