Renault is set to debut its first ever pick-up truck at the Buenos Aires International Motor Show on 18 June.

The Dacia Duster-based commercial vehicle was first teased in Sao Paulo last October, badged as the Renault Duster Oroch concept (see video below), and is expected to return next week ahead of likely production next year.

This week, Renault released two darkened renders of its upcoming pick-up, showing what looks like a Dacia Duster with the rear part of the roof chopped off. Bulkier wheel arches and rugged underbody cladding are evident, as are the practical roof rails and double-cab pick up shape. The familiar Duster face remains, albeit with a Renault badge in place of the Dacia logo that would appear on a UK model.

Although information is scarce, we’d expect the Oroch to make use of Renault’s existing engine line-up, meaning 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre dCi diesel units – though the former is more likely for its South American deubt.

We’ve not seen any pictures of the interior yet, but if last year’s Oroch is anything to go by, this new concept car is expected to throw away the Dacia rulebook. That means a huge panoramic roof, plush interior and central touchscreen, as well as a reversing camera and climate control. If a production version is realised, we can assume it’ll be much less luxurious.

Along with the new Duster pick-up, the Renault-Nissan Alliance is also readying its new Nissan Navara NP300 – though there’s still no word on whether it’ll come to the UK, despite being revealed almost a year ago. Rumour has it, this will later spawn a Mercedes pick-up – expected in dealers by the end of 2017.
