BMW 320d ED receives new Sport trim

BMW’s new 320d EfficientDynamics gets Sport trim with upgrades inside and out, and 104g/km CO2 emissions

BMW has updated its new 3-Series EfficientDynamics range with a new 320d ED Sport model. Based on the recently introduced ultra-low emission 320d ED, it adds sporty styling trim upgrades without unduly compromising its class-leading efficiency.

Priced from £30,985 for the saloon and £32,285 for the estate, the ED Sport spec brings larger 17-inch alloy wheels, with 18 or even 19-inch items optional. Inside upgrades over the standard ED include the Business navigation system, Dakota leather upholstery, a sports steering wheel, unique trim finishes and heated sports front seats.

For all the extra kit available on the Sport model, fuel economy is reduced slightly from 74.3mpg to 70.6mpg. CO2 emissions do rise marginally too, with the ED Sport saloon auto increasing by 5g/km to 104g/km, while the Sport Touring model has an increase of 12g/km to 11g/km.  BMW claims the average monthly cost of owning a Sport model is just £3 a month more than the standard ED.

It’s the same 163bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine available with either a six-speed manual or the eight-speed automatic gearbox.  The manual adds between 3-4g/km of CO2 compared with the auto. There’s no impact on performance, however- the 320d ED Sport reaches 62mph in 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 143mph.
