Buying one of the most luxurious cars in the world just got even more exclusive, as Rolls-Royce has just released a special edition of its Wraith coupe.
Although bright red isn't the first colour that springs to mind for a beautiful coachbuilt masterpiece, Rolls have decked the special edition Wraith St James out in 'St. James Red', and completed the look with new gloss-black detailing on the alloy wheels and extra chromework on the door handles. The chrome then continues to the front grille and door sills and inside, the Wraith is as luxurious as ever.
The Wraith St. James edition is said to have received a modest 8hp boost in power, making it the most powerful car Rolls-Royce has ever produced with 632bhp from its silky-smooth V12.
The announcement of this special edition comes ahead of the 2016 launch of the Rolls-Royce Dawn convertible, a drop-top version of the Wraith. The name goes back to the 1949 Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn - a classic Rolls saloon in every sense, but bespoke coachbuilders did make 28 'Drophead' convertible versions which were named simply 'Dawn'.
The Wraith St. James edition, as with all Rolls-Royces, will be hand-build in the Goodwood factory. With the standard Wraith costing from £230,000 this special edition is likely to top a quarter of a million. In reality this sort of price increase is modest to the regular Rolls-Royce clientele, who operate on the basis that if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it.
