Bugatti has taken the wraps off the Vision Gran Turismo concept car. A virtual car created for the Gran Turismo video game, it's also being crafted into a real, tangible show car for the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Taking inspiration from Bugatti's racing heritage, the Vision Gran Turismo is a tribute to some of the brand's greatest cars. There are many elements of the Veyron, but features from other legendary Bugattis also make an appearance.

The centre fin running down the length of the car originated on the 1937 Type 57 Atlantic, while the two-tone blue paint is a tribute to the Type 57G Tank. The horseshoe shape of the grille is a Bugatti hallmark, while even the wheels seem to recall those on the Type 54 racing car of 1931.

Inside, the cockpit is as futuristic as a concept should be, with the same two-tone blue colour scheme and minimal controls suited to a racing car. No details have been given regarding an engine, but the number 16 featuring on the front grille suggests it could be a W16, as featured in the Veyron.

There's no doubt this concept looks stunning, but what will be really interesting is seeing how many design features from this car make it onto the Chiron, Bugatti's next hypercar and the Veyron's successor. There's no update yet on when the virtual version of this car will be available to download into Gran Turismo 6, but we'll see it in the metal at Frankfurt later on this month.
