Nissan releases teaser image of sharp new crossover heading to Frankfurt Motor Show 2015

Nissan is hoping to take next week's Frankfurt Motor Show by storm with the unveiling of a new crossover concept. A subtle teaser image is all we have so far, but the firm promises that the sporty newcomer will debut "a new way to feel driving excitement".

Although model timelines would suggest this could be a Nissan Juke replacement, sources suggest this concept is in fact a preview for an all-new sports-oriented SUV in the Nissan line-up. Rumours are rife about the future of the firm's 'Z' brand, although nothing has been officially confirmed to suggest this car is related to that.

The front-end design shown in the teaser image features the same new look as the Micra-previewing Sway concept seen at Geneva this year. But the more rugged shape of the wings back-up the thinking that this is a crossover-style vehicle, and the bold LED light design adds dynamism.

Nissan claims the intention is to 'innovate and move the bar higher', which could see the new model sitting above the current Juke Nismo in terms of performance. We'll know more about it at the Frankfurt show in a few days' time.
