Volvo's had trouble keeping secrets of late. After images leaked online of the company's next S90 executive saloon in model form, we've now been treated to the same with the forthcoming V90 estate. We can expect to see the finished production version of the Volvo S90 right at the end of 2016, with a pricetag of around £32,000.
The 1:43 scale replicas, leaked on Chinese automotive blog Car News China, were built as promotional models to be released nearer the car's launch date. Like the S90, the V90 uses design influences from both the new XC90 SUV and the Volvo Concept Estate, shown in Geneva last year.
The front of the car is unchanged from the S90, meaning distinctive 'Thor's Hammer' LED headlamp designs and an oblong central grille. At the rear, the distinctive light design is pure Volvo, and although the roofline isn't as coupe-like as the concept, it's much sharper than the boxy old V70 and should still offer the bootspace you'd expect from the safe Swede.
As well as design cues borrowed from the XC90, the S90 is set to use the same SPA platform as the SUV. That means power from a range of Drive-E turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, with six-cylinders unlikely for now. An ultra-efficient T8 plug-in hybrid should also debut given the V90's company car target market.
