Lamborghini is stepping things up a notch in anticipation for its shock new Urus SUV. After recording its best ever global vehicle sales, it has announced 500 extra jobs in the next few years to build the new model.
The announcement comes promptly after the Italian brand announced record deliveries of its Huracan and Aventador supercars in 2015. 3245 combined examples were shifted, smashing the 2014 benchmark of 2530 sales.

With the Urus likely to see that number shoot up considerably, Lambo's Sant’Agata Bolognese facility employed 150 staff last year, including assembly line workers, technicians and department specialists. 600 employees have been taken on in the last five years.
Of course, all these new employees means the existing facility will grow. The second smallest VW-Group outfit ahead of Bugatti, Lamborghini's 80,000 metres squared factory will be nearly doubled to 150,000 metres squared by 2018 and the launch of the new SUV.
CEO Stefan Winkelmann commented "We are getting ready for groundbreaking changes with the introduction of our third model in 2018, which points to stable, sustainable growth for our company. This is why our investments in human resources are more important than ever, as we continue to focus on excellence and continuous improvements in this new phase of the company's future.”
