The latest BMW 7-Series has only just hit British showrooms, but it looks like things are already about to hot-up. Revered tuner Alpina has released a teaser video of a new B7, which is expected to get over 600bhp on tap from its uprated engine.
Official details aren't confirmed yet, but the Geneva Motor Show is the perfect place for an upcoming Alpina debut and the timing of this video means it's more than likely. The moody black and white video shows the B7 attacking a track in minimal disguise.
If you listen past the music, a V8 soundtrack can clearly be heard. This is predicted to be a reworked version of the Alpina B5's 591bhp 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8, with tweaks to push it over and above 600bhp and make it the firm's most powerful road car ever.
The B5 is capable of over 200mph, but it's not clear yet if the B7's extra weight will balance out any power upgrades and limit the top speed. Currently the most powerful 7 Series planned for BMW's range, the 750i, gets 444bhp from the same engine.
The previous Alpina B7 produced 533bhp, and was capable of 0-62mph in just 4.2 seconds. It's not clear yet whether the B7 will remain rear-wheel drive or adopt BMW's 'X-Drive' four-wheel drive system, but we'll find out at Geneva.
