Lotus has revealed a faster and lighter version of the Evora 400 ahead of its 2016 Geneva show debut

After the hardcore Elise Cup 250 was announced last week, Lotus has now launched a faster version of the Evora coupe. Dubbed the Sport 410, it gets a little bit of extra power, more downforce and quite a bit less weight.

The Sport 410 has 404bhp - 10bhp more than the 400 - courtesy of a tweaked 3.5-litre supercharged V6. But, more importantly, it sheds a considerable 70kg off its kerb weight by ditching the centre armrest, speakers and even the door bins, while also using carbon-fibre for the roof, bootlid and bodykit.

It's enough to lop three-tenths of a second off the Evora 400's 0-62mph time, taking the Evora 410's mark down to 3.9 seconds, while the top speed is 186mph. It'll also lap Lotus' Hethel test track in 1min 28secs; three seconds faster than the 400.

The chassis has had a light fettling too. The springs and dampers have been revised plus there's a 5mm lower ride height, and Lotus claims this means sharper handling and better body control, but no impact on ride comfort. Lightweight forged alloys and the option of Michelin Cup 2 tyres completes the upgrades.

It retains the limited-slip diff and multi-stage stability control system from the Evora 400, while the touchscreen entertainment system has been relegated to the options list. Carbon-fibre, alcantara-trimmed sports seats also feature.

The bad news? Only 150 Lotus Evora 410 models will be built, priced from £79,900, a full £8,000 more than the 400.
