A bespoke version of the new Bentley Mulsanne has been shown at the Geneva Motor Show. The Bentley Mulsanne Grand Limousine by Mulliner is described as the “ultimate expression” of what Bentley’s bespoke division can achieve
The Mulsanne Grand Limousine is the longest ultra-luxury saloon in the world. It is one metre longer than the standard Mulsanne, with most of the additional length accounted for by and extended wheelbase. It is also 79mm taller.
The extra space has allowed Mulliner to install four ‘aviation style’ seats which face each other and electrochromatic smart glass, which allows passengers to turn the glass partition screen from clear to opaque at the touch of a button.
It also boasts a new ventilation system, as well as fold-out rear tables, a bottle cooler with crystal flutes and a soft drinks cabinet with bespoke tumblers. Rear passengers are able to speak to the driver through a intercom system.
The car is a private commission developed by Bentley’s coachbuilding division, but insiders would not be drawn on the costs involved to recreate the car.
It has been finished in two-tone Silver Frost and Moroccan Blue paint and the flying ‘B’ logo has been engraved with the words “Coachbuilt by Mulliner”. It sits on 21-inch wheels which have been colour-coded to the car’s bodywork. The powertrain, transmission and suspension have all been recalibrated in the pursuit of passenger comfort.
Bentley’s boss Wolfgang Dürheimer, said: “The Mulsanne Grand Limousine showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of our in-house coachbuilder, Mulliner and exemplifies the way in which our experts consult with a customer to turn their vision into an extraordinary reality. The attention to detail, quality, creativity and skill applied to every Mulliner commission is truly unique in the automotive world.”
