A new Toyota GT 86 is on the way, with the facelifted sports car set to make its debut at the 2016 New York Motor Show and go on sale towards the end of the year.
The new model gets a bigger front grille, which helps give the car a sportier look, as well as a new bumper, revised fog light housings, LED lights and alloy wheels with an updated design. Other exterior changes are minimal, with this being a relatively minor facelift.
Inside there is new leather and Alcantara upholstery including on the doors and insrument panel. The cloth seats have been updated with contrasting silver stitching as well, and there's a new steering wheel design featuring audio controls and a central '86' logo.
The only changes under the skin are to the suspension, with a few tweaks helping to improve the car's agility. The 2.0-litre petrol engine and rear-wheel drive layout are unchanged, but there's no word yet on whether the facelifted GT 86 will get a power boost over the current car's 197bhp figure.
The news also comes as Toyota anounces the GT 86 CS-Cup, a competition car designed to race at the Nurburgring in Germany, and the GT 86 CS-R3 for rear-wheel drive rallying.
