Subaru is hoping to once again make its mark on the Isle Of Man TT road course with this: the WRX STi racer. The Japanese firm has teamed up with UK-based Prodrive to create this new model.
The 2016 WRX STi will be aiming for greatness thanks to British rally ace Mark Higgins, who set the time trial lap record for a car at the island circuit back in 2014 with an older WRX STi. The time of 19 minutes and 26 seconds is the time to beat for the 37.7-mile Snaefell Mountain Course.
Prodrive, the motorsport and engineering outfit based in Milton Keynes, has been working with Subaru since 1990 to create its hugely successful road and rally competition cars.
As well as the massive rear wing, flared arches, big splitter, completely revised suspension and stripped-out interior, the standard 2.5-litre flat-four engine should be tuned heavily from its original 296bhp. No performance details have been released yet, however.
