The Auto Express New Car Awards will kick off on Tuesday 5th July at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London. One of the most prestigious nights in the UK automotive industry calander, the ceremony will see our 2016 Car of the Year revealed for the first time along with the best cars in each of our New Car Awards categories.

New Car Awards 2016: the contenders
The shortlisted cars are battling it out over 21 categories, that cover the whole of today's new car market including everything from the best city cars to the best SUVs, the best supercars and the best green cars.
From the five contenders in each category, three will be commended on the night of the awards and one of those three will be named as the individual award winner. Each of the category winning cars will then go forward in the competition with one set to be crowned Auto Express Car of the Year 2016.

Previous Car of the Year winners have included the Volvo XC90 in 2015 and the MINI hatchback in 2014 but which model will take the prize in 2016?
Along with these car category awards, other accolades up for grabs at the New Car Awards ceremony include our annual Design Award, Car Advertising Campaign Award and Driver Power Award.
