The MINI Countryman, being the oldest model in the brand’s line-up, is due for an update very soon - and we've now caught the hot John Cooper Works (JCW) version testing on track.
As you can see from our spy photographs, the new Countryman's shape hasn't changed much - but it’ll have a more muscular look than before, especially so on the JCW version. This model appears to get a new front bumper with larger air intakes and a special JCW grille, plus LED headlights.
At the back there's a redesigned bumper that integrates the twin exhaust pipes, but the most obvious hint that this is a JCW model is the signature four-spoke alloy wheels.
Expect the hot version to get upgraded suspension, bigger brakes and a limited-slip differential under the skin, plus a longer wheelbase than before. The engine is likely to be the same 228bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged unit as the hatchback version, giving a 0-62mph time of less than 7 seconds.
Expect to see the new MINI Countryman JCW appear in 2017, with a price tag of around £30,000.
