Nissan's Navara can now be ordered with more efficient EU6 compliant diesel engines, while standard equipment has improved across the pick-up's range.

The Ford Ranger rival launched in its third generation in the UK at the start of this year, but the engines already require an update to meet upcoming Euro 6 emissions regulations.

The Navara's 2.3-litre dCi diesel features in both 158bhp and 187bhp form, but will now be fitted with an AdBlue tank, converting harmful NOx emissions into water and nitrogen - dubbed Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). The 17-litre tank, which can go over 7,000 miles before it needs a refill, reduces CO2 emissions by 8g/km - down to 159g/km.

The upgrade, however, does mean a weight increase of up to 38kg across the range. Performance figures are yet to be released, but fuel economy improves by 1.4mpg to 46.3mpg. The truck's one-tonne payload and 3.5-tonne towing capacity remain the same.

Start-stop has also now been made standard on all manual Navaras, while further standard kit upgrades for base models include a colour instrument display, cruise control with a speed limiter, Bluetooth and multi-function steering wheel controls.
