The Hyundai i10 has been updated with a new look, new safety tech and even more equipment. The facelifted car will make its debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
The most noticeable change is the updated grille. Hyundai calls it the cascading grille, and it’s set to appear on all future models from the Korean brand. It’s bigger and more defined than the current style, and there’s new front bumper design to match. A black section on the rear bumper, new fog lights and different-shaped side mouldings complete the exterior makeover.
Inside, the new model gets some new colour options for the upholstery as well as a new seven-inch touchscreen display on top-spec cars. The infotainment system features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as its own sat-nav system. Cars fitted with the system get a free seven-year subscription to a real-time traffic, speed camera and weather information service.
Safety kit on the new Hyundai i10 includes a front collision warning system, and a lane departure warning, both using a new front-mounted camera. The systems can sound an alarm to alert the driver if the sensors detect danger. Other equipment available on the i10 includes air-conditioning, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, 14-inch alloy wheels and LED daytime running lights. The new model also gets some revisions to the steering ratio.
There are no changes under the bonnet, as both the 1.0-litre and 1.25-litre petrol engines remain the only choices. There’s a five-speed manual gearbox as standard, with a four-speed automatic also available. An efficient BlueDrive version is focused on saving fuel.
The car will be revealed at the Paris Motor Show, but isn’t likely to go on sale until January 2017. Expect prices to rise slightly over the current car’s £8,995 list price.
