The Lamborghini Huracan Spyder will now be available with rear-wheel drive, with the new model being revealed at the LA Motor Show today. It'll be available in January 2017, and will be priced in between the two- and four-wheel drive coupe models.
The car is marked out by large front air intakes, new 19-inch wheels and special Pirelli tyres distinguish the RWD Huracan from its all-wheel drive sibling, though both use the same 5.2-litre V10 engine with 572bhp. That sends it from 0-62mph in just 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 198mph.
Peak power is at 8,000rpm, with 540Nm of torque coming in at 6,500rpm. Plus, the RWD car gets a retuned chassis set-up to better exploit the changed drivetrain.
Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali said: “It’s a Huracan for those entering the Lamborghini family, wanting a true Spyder experience without compromising on performance.”
Inside there's a 12.3-inch display screen with the latest Lamborghini infotainment system. The roof itself opens and closes in 17 seconds up to around 30mph. Fins rise out of the casing to improve the car's looks with the roof down and optimise airflow to the engine. You can also raise and lower the rear window to better hear the V10 howl.
