A more powerful, purposeful looking Mercedes-AMG GT has been spotted undisguised by our spy photographers, revealing that a coupe version of there Mercedes AMG GT C revealed in Roadster form at the Paris Motor Show in September is very close to going on sale.
The AMG GT in the photographs wears a wide bodykit resembling the one fitted to the GT C Roadster, snuggly fitting over the car’s wider track with blown up rear arches mimicking the ones seen on the hardcore GT R. The front bumper gets an assortment of larger inlets, while around the back the same rear bumper with two large vents and one thin one underneath the bootlid remains in place.
Staying around the back, it’s possible to spy that this model wears a badge reading Edition 50 – the matt black paint and centre lock alloys singling it out as an even more special version of the AMG GT C.
Why Edition 50? Well, 2017 will mark 50 years since the legendary Mercedes tuner independently began business in 1967. Mercedes has been the sole owner of the brand since 2005.

Under the bonnet we’re expecting the same tweaked version of the now standard AMG powerplant – the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. In the GT C Roadster it splits the difference between the 503bhp GT S and 577bhp GT R with 549bhp and 680Nm of torque, driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The GT C Roadster is some 90kg heavier than the standard AMG GT S due to extra strengthening to compensate for the lack of a fixed roof. The Coupe model should be much lighter as a result. It’ll arrive in 2017 – the unmasked photographs suggesting a reveal early in the year.
