A new car from a new car manufacturer is set to appear at CES 2017, with the Eli Zero appearing to be a closed-cockpit version of the Renault Twizy electric car, aimed at city commuters.

There are few details so far, with the company issuing only the pictures of the car and a short statement: "Smaller, simpler and friendlier, Eli ZERO is the ultimate two seater mobility device for agile daily movement. Eli ZERO reimagines the NEV and addresses the dynamic transportation demands of modern cities and towns by offering a versatile driving solution for both urban and suburban neighborhoods."

A close look at the pictures reveals an electric range of 180 miles on just under half a charge, hinting at a 360-mile-plus range on a full charge - though that figure seems unrealistic for a small car like this with no room for large battery packs.

The Zero appears to feature glass all around, including the roof and doors, while the small wheels and tiny size give it a definite Twizy feel in terms of styling. It's not known if the car has any relation to the Renault beyond the obvious resemblance, however.

We'll have more details on the Eli Zero when it is officially revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.
