The 2017 Shanghai Motor Show has become one of the big players in the motoring calendar, and next month the 17th bi-annual event opens its doors. Here you'll find all the latest news, pictures and info ahead of our reporters hitting the show floor.

Shanghai joins the likes of Geneva, Tokyo and New York as one of the world's prominent motor shows and new car events. Once a small player, the boom of the Chinese car market means the show's importance has grown significantly as manufacturers invest billions into models aimed at the Asian market.

Our reporters will be heading out to China to fill you in on the latest news, including exclusive stories, images and video. We'll speak to designers and executives to get the lowdown on the concepts and new cars - and see what's heading to the UK.

The likes of Mercedes, Citroen, BMW and Skoda are some of the bigger European brands debuting new models. We'll also see a debut from Geely's new brand Lynk & Co, while other home-grown outfits such as Qoros, BYD and Changan are sure to have new vehicles on the stands.

Shanghai Motor Show 2017: manufacturers A to Z

BMW

From Bavaria to China, BMW will be heading over to Shanghai with a faster and more outlandish M4. Expected to use the CS nametag, it'll sit in the middle ground between the standard M4 and the GTS racing car, with an aggressive bodykit, tweaked chassis and more power expected. Official details are scarce, so we'll have to wait until the show for technical specs.

Citroen

Citroen C5 Aircross

The French manufacturer will be drawing in the crowds with a production version of the Aircross Concept shown at Shanghai 2015. Taking a radical departure from the outgoing C5 saloon, the C5 Aircross will be a family SUV related to the Peugeot 5008. It'll rival cars like the Nissan X-Trail, with a plug-in hybrid powertrain expected in the show model.

Lynk & Co

Lynk & Co 01

Geely will be a familiar name to Volvo fans, but the Chinese giant has also launched 'Lynk & Co' as a standalone global car brand. The first production model debut is expected at Shanghai, with the '01' premium SUV designed to cater for both Western and Eastern markets. World-beating connectivity tech is promised, as is a line-up of electrified powertrains.

Mercedes

Mercedes S-Class 2018

Nothing is confirmed yet, though the rumour mill is circulating that Mercedes will use the Shanghai Motor Show to debut the updated 2018 model year S-Class. While the exterior isn't expected to change radically, the biggest news is a suite of advanced autonomous technology to bring the flagship saloon above and beyond the E-Class.

Skoda

Skoda Electric car

The Czech carmaker has an electric shock prepared for Shanghai, as it will unveil its first EV to the world. Expected to take the form of a sleek coupe-SUV, little is known about the new model other than it'll be battery power-only, but we'll see further details closer to the show's opening date.

We'll bring you all the latest news from Shanghai as it happens on this page...
