Audi has teased us with a set of revealing sketches, which preview a new pure electric concept car that will take to the stage at the Shanghai Motor Show next week.
The concept, which appears to be joining the e-tron range gauging by the number plate, adopts a coupe-like SUV body. Audi has already confirmed it will launch three new EVs by 2020 - 2016’s e-tron quattro SUV concept being one - and these sketches could preview the second.
The concept appears to be a similar size to the e-tron quattro, meaning it’s likely that the coupe will be based on the same MLB platform rather than the new MEB architecture the VW Group has developed exclusively for electric vehicles.
If so, the concept is likely to be powered the same powertrain found in the e-tron quattro – made up of three electric motors and capable of around 300 miles on a single charge.
The sketches also show that the concept ditches conventional wing mirrors for cameras, and new design features such as the sunken bonnet and inverted front grille can be made out.
