Mazda CX-3 updated, with new limited edition GT Sport model added ~ station of gear

A small round of tech updates is en route for the Mazda CX-3, while a limited edition GT Sport model is on sale now

Mazda has announced a round of technology updates for its CX-3 crossover, and has revealed a new flagship special edition model loaded with equipment and boasting unique design tweaks.

Across the range the CX-3 now gets Mazda’s G-Vectoring control system, while small alterations have been made to the suspension. In tandem with additional sound insulation, Mazda hopes it means the CX-3 is a little more relaxing and refined.

The autonomous emergency city braking system standard on cars in SE-L trim and above has been altered too. It no longer relies on infrared sensors, and instead uses a front facing camera to detect obstacles. It means the system now operates at speeds up to 50mph, with the vehicle collision avoidance threshold now raised to 31mph.

Other new equipment highlights include power folding mirrors as standard across the entire range, while Sport Nav cars now get a heated steering wheel. A new steering wheel features on every model, and the 1.5-litre turbodiesel engine has been tweaked – Mazda claims there’s now less turbo lag.

Joining the line-up is the new CX-3 GT Sport, which features the 118bhp 2.0-litre SKYACTIV-G petrol engine. It’ll be limited to 500 units and is based on the Sport Nav CX-3, but packs in unique styling cues. It gets a new aero kit, plus new inserts on the front and rear aprons. The side skirts get new inserts too, while it rides on 18-inch alloy wheels. A Nappa leather interior is featured as standard.

Manual and automatic versions are available and the GT Sport is on sale now, priced from £22,895.
