Renault has announced a new concept car set to be shown at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show and, while we don’t know how it will look just yet, we do know that it will be called the R.S. 2027 Vision.

As the name implies, the concept car will represent Renault’s vision of what its racing cars will be like in a decade’s time, in 2027. While the previous Renault Trezor concept previewed road cars of the future, this new concept instead looks at what Formula One cars could look like then.

The concept car also implies that Renault will be sticking to Formula One for a long time to come, the name hinting that it will be involved in the sport for at least ten more years. A press release describing the concept said: “Renault is eager to play a major role in shaping Formula 1’s evolution and to put drivers very much back at the heart of the sport.”

Renault says the R.S. 2027 Vision, which is previewed by a very cryptic teaser picture, will also show how tech can be carried over from racing cars into road cars. The teaser picture appears to show a front wing lit up with an LED light, shaped just like the ones used on Renault’s current road cars.

There’s also what looks like a glass canopy, as well as a driver sporting a new helmet design with better visibility. However, there’s no more detail just yet, so we’ll have to find out more when the car is revealed on 19 April at the Shanghai Motor Show.
