Our spy photographers have scooped a new version of the Jeep Cherokee testing on the streets of Detroit in the US ahead of its release in 2018.
The Cherokee has been around since 2014 in its current form, so it's due for an update to keep it in line with the rest of the range, particularly the new Compass model it sits above in the line-up. The most obvious change is at the front-end, as the engineers have covered up the whole front of the car with plastic covers to disguise a new design.
There's no chance that the traditional Jeep grille will be gone, but expect a subtle redesign to add a fresher look, as well as new headlights and a reshaped front bumper. The back end has also been covered up for this test run, suggesting that we could see fresh taillights and a new shape for the tailgate.
The rest of the car's profile appears unchanged, but we can expect a few new features on the inside. Infotainment upgrades are the current trend for facelifted products, and that's unlikely to be any different for the Jeep.
We expect to see the Cherokee revealed in full towards the end of this year, possibly with a public debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2018.
