Peugeot unveils L750 R concept for Gran Turismo Sport video game ~ station of gear

Ahead of Gran Turismo Sport's UK launch on the 18th October, the Peugeot L750 R virtual concept has been revealed

Peugeot has announced the L750 R Hybrid Vision Gran Turismo virtual concept ahead of the release of the Gran Turismo Sport game next Wednesday.

The L750 R Hybrid is an evolution of the L500 R Hybrid designed by Peugeot and its motorsport division Peugeot Sport, which featured in Gran Turismo 6 on the PlayStation 3. GT Sport gamers on the current-generation PlayStation 4 console can expect to utilise 740bhp from a hybrid powertrain. The petrol combustion engine produces 572bhp with a 10,000rpm redline, while the electric motor provides the remaining 168bhp. It certainly sounds fast.

A notable feature on the virtual concept is the new dual-circuit hydraulic braking system, which couples with four ventilated carbon brake discs. Independent front and rear suspension adjusts the ride height accordingly to give PS4 drivers the best handling to go with the hefty horsepower.

The L750 R weighs 825kg, 175kg lighter than the L500 R thanks to a new carbonfibre structure, meaning acceleration should be rapid depending on the bravery behind the driver’s right thumb.

Peugeot’s effort is the latest in a long batch of Vision Gran Turismo concepts. Launched in 2013 prior to the release of GT6, developers Polyphony Digital gave car manufacturers a chance to develop radical virtual concepts to showcase their vision of performance and race cars in the future.

Gran Turismo Sport launches in the UK on the 18th October. A time-limited demo is available to download now on the PlayStation Store, with the demo coming to an end this Thursday 12th October at 4pm BST. GT Sport will be the first Gran Turismo title to be released on the current generation PS4 games console.
