Toyota has revealed a new concept car as part of its Concept-i series called the RIDE. It will make its debut at next week's Tokyo Motor Show.

The RIDE is a small, fully electric 'mobility vehicle' that makes use of Artifice Intelligence (AI) to learn the habits and preferences of the driver. Toyota says over time the RIDE will then be able to predict the driver's feelings through the use of AI technology.

Proportionally, the RIDE measures in at 2,500mm long, 1,300mm wide and 1,500mm tall, which makes it slightly larger than a Renault Twizy. The RIDE features gull-wing doors to ease access, also allowing wheelchair users to transfer easily to the car.

Toyota has also replaced the steering wheel and pedals with a joystick located on the arms of the front seat; a large digital readout also displays vehicle information and data. The RIDE can seat two people and is capable of covering between 62 and 93 miles on a single charge.

Alongside the RIDE at Tokyo will be another new concept called the WALK. The personal mobility vehicle features three wheels and operates in a similar way to a Segway, with the driver using their body weight to move the vehicle forward and backwards.

Like the RIDE, the WALK also features AI and can detect and warn drivers about potentially hazardous situations.  It can travel up to 16 miles on electric power.
