SEAT has added a new front-wheel-drive, automatic-equipped petrol powertrain to the Tarraco’s line-up. The updated seven-seat SUV is available to order now, priced from £29,900 for the entry-level SE model, climbing to £33,485 for the range-topping XCellence Lux variant. First deliveries are expected in early 2020.

The turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine is the same unit found in the current model, developing 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. However, for the first time on a Tarraco, it sends its power to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

SEAT says the new front-wheel drive powertrain gives the Tarraco a 0–62mph time of 9.5 seconds and a top speed of 123mph – making it 0.2 seconds quicker to 62mph than the equivalent manual model. Economy and emissions are a claimed 35.2mpg and 163g/km of CO2.

Standard equipment on the entry-level SE model includes 17-inch alloy wheels, three-zone climate control, an eight-inch infotainment system and LED headlamps. Buyers also get a host of safety equipment, including roll over assist, lane assist, cruise control, rear parking sensors and a full suite of air-bags.

The upper-mid-range XCellence model comes with 20-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, ambient interior lighting, heated front and rear seats, an uprated eight-inch infotainment system with sat-nav and an electrically operated tailgate. There’s also additional safety equipment, including adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera.
