Alfa Romeo has updated the engine range of its Giulietta hatch. Every engine in the range is now compliant with EU6 emissions regulations and, with the exception of the recently introduced 2.0 diesel, all engines see an improvement in emissions and economy.
The 1.6 JTDM-2 turbo diesel engine benefits from a drop in C02 emissions from 104g/km to 99g/km, thanks to a new variable-geometry turbocharger and low-rolling resistance tyres. It means free road tax and reduced company car running costs.
The update also brings an increase in power from 105bhp to 120bhp. The revised engine boosts top speed by 6mph to 121mph and reduces the 0-62mph to 10.0 seconds, cutting 1.3 seconds off the previous time.
Meanwhile, all of the 1.4 MultiAir turbo petrol engine emissions have dropped by 4g/km with performance remaining unchanged from before. The same can be said for the 237bhp 1.75 Quadrifoglio Verde, whose emissions drops by 5g/km to 157g/km. Despite the engine upgrades, pricing for the Giulietta range is unchanged, with the entry-level 1.4 TB 120hp Progression starting at £18,450 OTR.
