It's not very often that a car brand comes around that we've never heard of, but a teaser image from newly born 'Thunder Power' indicates its intention to build an electric car to beat the Tesla Model S. An early version of this Tesla trouncer will be showcased at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The image shows a rendering of a stylish front grille and headlight combination, and unfortunately it's difficult to tell what style or size of car they're attached to. We are given some specifications, though. The Thunder Power electric car is claiming to offer 430bhp, with enough juice in the batteries for a 373-mile range. 0-62mph will be despatched with in under 5 seconds, and the car will go onto a top speed of 155mph - all impressive numbers, especially form a start-up company.

Thunder Power promise 'European engineering' wrapped up in 'Italian design', and they've hired former Bugatti technician Dr Peter Tutzer to oversee the project. The car is currently undergoing testing in Milan, ahead of an alleged 2017 European release.

The car is said to be aiming for a retail price of 400,000 Chinese Yuan - that's just over £40,000 when directly converted. We can't wait to see the Thunder Power on the road but while we do, we'll bring you all the news as we get it.
