As a car buyer you’ll have no problem locating a car to seat 5 people and in today’s market, even 7-seater cars are commonplace but if your passenger carrying requirements exceed that magic 7-person limit, the options start to dwindle. There just aren’t that many 8-seater cars out there.

If you are seeking a vehicle to carry eight people in comfort, you’ll need to move away from the traditional 7-seater MPVs and SUVs that most customers turn to and look instead towards 8-seater van-based people carriers.

Before you turn your nose up and consider buying one of your wouldbe passengers a bike for Christmas, it’s worth remembering that vans have become a lot more refined and car-like over recent years. As a result, an MPV based on a commercial vehicle isn’t the hardship it once was.

Far from it, many of the latest 8-seater solutions offer ride comfort, technology quotas and design features to rival passenger cars. On top of that, you get outstanding interior space courtesy of the commercial vehicle origins of these MPVs that means you can sit eight fully-grown adults in comfort or take five passengers and a huge haul of luggage.

So there’s a lot to be said for today’s top 8-seater cars and below you’ll find details of the top models on today’s market…
