Lexus has confirmed to Auto Express that its 2015 Tokyo Motor Show star will be an updated, production-ready version of the stunning LF LC coupe concept, first seen at the 2012 Detroit show. Alongside it on the stands will be a new hybrid concept, expected to preview tech for the next LS.
We previously were told by European executives of the Japanese firm that the LF LC concept will be put into full production, but they couldn't tell us when. Now Lexus sources in Tokyo have told us that a more production-ready example of the Maserati GranTurismo rival will make its debut on the show stand.

The source also told us that we can expect two engine options for the two-door coupe. A petrol-electric hybrid powertrain will power more entry-level versions of the car, although we're not sure if it'll be the same 2.5-litre unit found in the IS300h saloon. Hotter models will also arrive, and are likely to receive the 4.7-litre V8 found in the RC F and GS F.
The LF LC will also be built on Toyota's new scaleable platform architecture, that will first underpin a new crossover based on the C-HR concept that was seen at Frankfurt this year.

Our spyshots show the LF LC testing on the roads outside the Nurburgring. Although behind a disguise, it's clear to see the sleek two-door shape and dramatic Lexus grille remain part of the design. Further details will come after the full reveal of the LF LC in the coming days, and we'll bring you all you need to know.
