Cadillac has revealed images and details of its new XT5 SUV ahead of its debut at the 2015 Los Angeles Motor Show. It's set to go on sale in Spring 2016 in the US, but it could hit UK shores in the not-too-distant future.
Although it's been said numerous times before, Cadillac told us back in March it would make inroads into the UK market by the end of this year with just one dealer. Nothing has materialised yet, but considering the growing demand for SUVs here it could make sense for the American brand.
The XT5 replaces the SRX in the firm's range, and is targeted at cars such as the Mercedes GLC, BMW X3 and Lexus NX. It will be built in both the US and China initially, and will also be available to buy in the Middle East.
The Cadillac XT5 styling is inspired by both the big, boxy 2015 Escalade and sleeker ATS Coupe, with a traditional large chrome grille and distinctive LED headlamps. Inside you'll find plenty of wood and leather, but also new tech such as a 300-degree rear-view camera display on the internal mirror.
The powertrain on US-spec cars is a familiar 306bhp 3.6-litre V6 petrol, which would hardly make it a big seller over here. But Chinese-built cars are also offered with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four cylinder engine, which would help the XT5 compete with European rivals.
