This is the DS E-Tense concept, a luxurious all-electric GT car that previews future styling, technology and drivetrains for the French luxury brand. The E-Tense been revealed ahead of the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
The E-Tense has a sculpted and aerodynamic design, with a low and wide stance not just there to look good. There are a few nods to motorsport as well, including there being no rear windscreen at all and a central rear foglight just like on a Formula racing car. The car also features active headlights that can swivel up to 180 degrees, too.
The car sits within the new 'DS Performance' brand, and the all-electric powertrain is intended to link DS' road cars and Formula E racing team as well as previewing future production car drivetrains for the brand. The electric motor is a Siemens unit running on a set of 53kWh batteries, and produces 396bhp and 516Nm of torque.
There are plenty of wild concept car touches inside, including the unique sweeping dashboard structure that flows forward to create the mount for the central touchscreen. That design is made possible, in part, because of the solid rear end. With no rear screen and a carbon-fibre chassis there was more room inside for the E-Tense designers to add unique touches.
The E-Tense gets specially-developed Michelin tyres, a powerful speaker system, a 12-inch digital handset and a 10-inch touchscreen in the cabin. There's also a removable watch in the centre console that has been specifically designed by BRM to be readable while driving.
The brand describes the car as a high-performance electric GT "that gives you the overpowering urge to get behind the wheel." The car will be revealed in full at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1st 2016, so stay tuned for more info in the coming days.
