Mazda could be about to reveal a new version of its MX-5 sports car at the 2016 New York Motor Show, with the invite to an event at the show hinting at the new model.
The invite promises the new model, a world premiere, will "blow the lid off" the show. With the soft-top sports car being nearly a year old, a folding hard-top version should be on the way by now - and we expect that this event will reveal all.
The MX-5 'roadster coupe' is likely to cost a little more than the roadster model, starting at around £20,000 when it arrives in the UK. There's good reason to suspect that we'll be getting the folding hard-top over here, as most of the Mk3 MX-5 cars sold were in that variety.
The hard-top will is likely to get the same engine range as the soft-top, with a revvy 1.5-litre entry-level model and a more powerful 2.0-litre model aimed at the US market being the range-topping car, also featuring a limited-slip differential.
We'll have more information about the new model when it's revealed on New York Motor Show press day next week.
