Honda has bolstered its Civic line-up by adding a new four-door saloon to the range, the company has confirmed. It goes on sale in the UK in August and is likely to carry a small price premium over the hatchback.
Unlike the hatch, the saloon will be built in Turkey and shipped to the UK. It’s based on the same platform as the five-door and will be available with the same range of engines, incuding a 128bhp 1.0-litre i-VTEC three-cylinder turbo and 118bhp 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel. A six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic gearbox are the transmission options.
Over the hatch the saloon features a more conventional design; the rear end in particular is more restrained with a simpler rear bumper design. There are no shots of the cabin but the interior will be adopted directly from the hatchback.
Official specs and pricing will be announced closer to the car’s launch in the summer, and while a small premium is expected, the model range is likely to mirror the hatch with SE, SR, EX Sport, Sport Plus and Prestige specifications.
