While the new Kamiq crossover will be Skoda’s star at next month’s Geneva Motor Show, the firm will also present a new concept, intended as a closer glimpse at the second body style for its upcoming electric SUV.

Called the Skoda Vision iV, it’s a follow-up to the Vision E concept from 2017, and is expected to transform into a production-ready, electric SUV in 2021.

Speaking to Auto Express at last year’s Paris show, Skoda CEO Bernhard Maier told us: “The first purpose-built EV from Skoda we will offer it in two body styles. The first will be very close to the size of the Kodiaq, and the second will be one which meets the more emotional design needs of customers.”

These teaser sketches, while unconfirmed by Skoda, appear to show that second, more “emotional” body style. They reveal the Geneva show car will feature sharper bumpers, plus redesigned LED lights front and rear intended to emphasise a sportier look over the Vision E concept.

The door mirrors have been replaced by a more aerodynamic side-camera-based system, while the new concept rides on 22-inch five-spoke alloy wheels. No images of the cabin have been revealed.

Under the skin, the Vision iV concept is based on the VW Group’s new MEB platform for electric vehicles, and Skoda plans to introduce production cars on the architecture from 2020 onwards.

The brand says it is investing almost £2bn into ‘alternative drive systems’ in the next few years, and aims to offer more than 10 electrified models by the end of 2022.
