Morgan has unveiled a new fully electric version of its retro 3 Wheeler. Called the EV3, it's the first electric model the British brand has ever produced, and will undergo 'a full testing and development programme' before it goes on sale at the end of 2016.
The quirky model ditches its usual 2.0-litre V-Twin two-cylinder engine in favour of a single electric motor that produces the equivalent of 60bhp. That might sound like a tiny amount, but the lighter motor reduces the 3-Wheeler's kerbweight by 75kg, down to just 450kg, so it should prove to be a fairly sprightly performer.
Although there are few specs or performance details so far, Morgan claims the EV3 is capable of 150 miles on one charge, taking four hours to reach full battery capacity. The 'standard' petrol powered model starts at £25,950, but we can expect the electric version to push that price up to nearer £30,000 due to the engineering involved.
