Dacia adds new 'Easy-R' automated transmission to its dCI 90 diesel models and new limited-edition spec

Dacia hasn't had any new model debuts the the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, but it has launched its first automatic gearbox across its diesel range of the Sandero supermini, Logan MCV estate and Duster 4X4, and a new special edition.

The self-shifting transmission, only available on the dCI 90 diesel, gets six gears but is an automated manual rather than a full torque-converter auto. Dacia claims that makes it more competitively priced, fitting in with the brand's reputation for value.

The Easy-R system is electro-mechanical rather than hydraulic, while it gets a crawl function and shifts are said to be almost as smooth as a regular auto. No specific performance specs have been revealed, but the Renault-owned brand claims fuel economy will be similar to manual versions.

Alongside this, Dacia launched a limited edition 'Ambiance Prime' spec across the range. The models get striking Chestnut Brown paint, new alloy wheels, new badging and body-coloured bumpers, plus Bluetooth and electric windows. No price info has been released yet.
